Worm Burrow Sculptures 1 - 3
Dried marine worm burrows, wire, acrylic paint, hot glue, x-ray scans. 2026.
These miniature relics are inspired by the concept of “lebensspuren”, or traces of life, and celebrate the architecture of potentially overlooked creatures. In this example, the stony composites are made by terebellid marine worms that make their own tube homes. The images are x-ray scans of the sculptures captured with a Micro-CT scanner. The technology allows the humans to see through the structures and imagine what it might be like inside them. Created during a residency at Friday Harbor Labs.
