Bent Plywood Vessels

Quick experiments in bent lamination and handmade plywood to try to create voluminous forms with a single flat pattern. Layers of veneer were glued together and pressed in a vacuum bag over a hand-turned wooden mold. Inspired by the familiarity of holding a fruit carton and the negative space present in such objects, each vessel can hold solid items for display or transportation. Although both the shallow and tall pieces are made using the same mold and same base flat pattern, each object is slightly different depending on how it is manipulated inside the mold and how long the glue is allowed to dry.
